Marketing for Roofing Companies

Roofing has the most expensive leads in the trades and the most crowded market. Which is exactly why owning your own search position is worth more here than anywhere else.

The math on bought leads

A shared roofing lead from a lead marketplace costs real money and arrives at three or four competitors at the same time. You pay whether or not you win it, you compete on speed of callback, and the customer starts the conversation already shopping.

A call from your own map pack position costs nothing per call, arrives only to you, and comes from someone who chose you rather than filling in a form. The catch is that it takes months to build and the lead marketplace works today. Both are real; the mistake is spending on leads for three years and never building the thing that would have ended the dependency.

  • Storm-damage pages published before storm season — not during; a page needs weeks to rank and hurricane season is predictable
  • Insurance claim content — the customer's real question is usually about their deductible and their adjuster, not about shingles
  • Separate pages for repair, replacement and inspection — very different searches, very different intent and value
  • Manufacturer certifications displayed — these decide high-ticket jobs and they're often buried on an about page
  • Financing mentioned if you offer it — a full replacement is a five-figure decision and financing is frequently the deciding factor
  • Bilingual, genuinely — both for homeowners and because a large part of this workforce and market is Spanish-speaking

What ranks in roofing and what doesn't

The broad term — "roofing company Houston" — is dominated by big spenders and lead aggregators. Going straight at it is expensive and slow.

What's winnable is the specific: "roof leak repair Cypress TX," "hail damage inspection Katy," "how long does a roof replacement take," "does insurance cover a 15 year old roof." Those searches have less competition, they come from people further along in deciding, and they convert better. There are dozens of them and most roofing sites answer none.

The other underused asset is the map pack in the towns you actually work. A roofer with a properly built profile and a real page for each suburb beats a bigger competitor whose local pages are one template with the city swapped — and that's the majority of them.

Speed of response is a ranking factor in practice

Not in Google's algorithm, but in the customer's. Storm-damage customers call several roofers in one sitting and hire early. If your quote process depends on you being off a roof and near a computer, you lose jobs you'd have won.

An inspection that can be booked on the site, a signed agreement that doesn't need printing, and a deposit collected at signature are worth more in roofing than in almost any other trade, because the job values are high and the decision window is short.
